About RedChat AI

RedChat AI is a ChatGPT-style interface powered by the AO Compute Network, demonstrating how student innovation and departmental infrastructure can create accessible AI tools for the CUA community.

Project Overview

RedChat AI is a custom chat interface built by Gregorio Toscano to work seamlessly with the AO Compute Network, a distributed LLM and GPU platform developed by Anthony Ozog and Joe Sypal in the Natural Language Processing course within the CS Department @ The Catholic University of America.

RedChat AI provides a streamlined, ChatGPT-like experience while leveraging the AO Compute Network's capabilities for:

  • Fast, scalable LLM inference
  • Unified access to multiple models running locally and in the cloud
  • Efficient GPU scheduling and resource sharing
  • Experimentation with advanced AI features

This application demonstrates how departmental infrastructure and student innovation can come together to create practical, accessible AI tools for coursework, research, and creative exploration.

A Student-Driven Innovation Initiative

The AO Compute Network—and now RedChat AI—originated as student projects, and they continue to grow through collaborative effort.

We welcome new student contributors interested in:

→ Distributed computing & GPU engineering
→ LLM architecture, fine-tuning, and evaluation
→ Full-stack development (Django, React, HTMX)
→ AI ethics, safety, & responsible deployment
→ Building new apps and agents on top of AO
→ Research in NLP, optimization, or emergent behavior in AI

Students with ideas for new tools, features, or research directions are encouraged to get involved.
